VOLUME OF LIQUID

Topic : VOLUME OF LIQUID
Learning Area : Measuring And Comparing Volumes Of Liquids
Learning Objective : At the end of our lesson pupils will be taught to
measure and compare volumes of liquid using standard units
Learning Outcomes :
i. Compare the volumes of two liquids using non-standard units.
ii. Compare the volumes of two liquids using standard units.
iii. Measure and record volumes of liquids using the standard units:

Comparing Volumes Of Liquids

1) Say the words

....Full.....Half full....Empty

2) Compare volume

Glass A has more water than glass B

......A..............B...........C
.....Full..........Full........Full

a) Glass A holds more water than Glass B
b) Glass B holds more water than Glass B
c) Glass C holds less water than Glass A and Glass B

3) Which container contain more milk ?

In the bottle or the cup ?

Pour the milk in the cup into glass B. Meanwhile pour the milk in the bottle into glass A. Both of glasses are the same size.

The volume of the milk in glass A is more compared to glass B.
The bottle contains more milk than the cup.

In the carton or the bottle ?

Which container hold more water.

Pour the milk in the carton into glass X and milk in the bottle into glass Y.

The level of milk in Glass X and
Glass Y are the same.

The volume of milk in the carton and the bottle are the same.

Measuring Volume

4) Measuring Volume of Liquid using Standard Unit.

Measuring Cylinder
1 litre = 1000 mililitres 1â„“ = 1000 mâ„“

a) Measure and record the volume

* Pour each of the green and purple liquid into a measuring cylinder.
* Pour the orange liquid into a measuring jug. Read the volume.

Compare the volume of liquid

b) Compare the volume of liquid in the two containers.

* Pour the liquid in each container into a measuring cylinder.

The volume of the red liquid is 200ml.
The volume of the blue liquid is 500ml.
The volume of the red liquid is 300ml
less than the volume of the blue liquid.

Exercise :

Write the volume and compare

The volume of orange juice is ______ less than the volume of lemon juice.
